The Accounting Angel:

adding machine

Catherine joined Intentia in 1998 and it turned out to be the problem solving and customer service role was exactly the challenge she was looking for. Catherine says “Having worked in just about every role within a Finance Function I pride myself that I know a great deal about financial processes, I understand the time constraints and financial penalties of not getting a payment run out on time or missing Management reporting deadlines. I am confident that I can talk to Accounts Clerks and FD's with the same understanding of the immediate problems or requirements that they face”.

Catherine has seamlessly moved from working on the Financials function of M3/Movex to additionally supporting Customer Order Processing functionality, and has even been known to work on Service and Rental, Long-term rental, Manufacturing and Procurement issues when no-one else is looking!

“What I really love is trying to understand how transactions flow within M3/Movex in relation to how the customer's business processes have been designed", adds Catherine. "M3 is a fully integrated product and most problems end up in the Financial Accounts, so I love being able to trace back to the source issue and try to find a solution”. She has particularly enjoyed working in a team with like-minded professional and creative people who love solving a difficult problem, who never give up and who fundamentally have a passion for working with and trying to improve the M3/Movex product.

Outside of work, Catherine works voluntarily for CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), after having re-energised the local Doncaster Branch, she also now has the role of Area Secretary for the North East UK Region.  In 2012 Catherine was awarded the CIMA Institute plaque for outstanding contribution (only 4 recipients out of 185,000 members in 175 countries). Catherine says “I was extremely proud to be recognised by my professional body and to receive this plaque from the Global President, maybe spending my spare time with Accountants isn't so boring after all!”
